Fields of Blue

I didn't add this picture because it is good. It's a terrible photo taken on a dull over cast day. I put it in because I thought you may not know about this: The paper mill at Shotton pays farmers £240 per acre to dump the residue left over from recycling news papers. The fields are blue because they are covered in blue ink. Farmers are earning vast amounts of money to pollute the land with this stuff, it looks and feels like lumps of putty, and when you walk over the fields you can smell the ink. So don't be surprised if one day you find yourself eating blue potatoes.

Thanks you for this Cathy. It always surprises me how willing farmers can be to pollute their fields or to use them for inappropriate purposes. You'd think there would be some environmental control on land like this...

Thank you for your comment Jonathan. We went walking two days ago and this blue stuff clung to our walking boots like heavy clay. And it looks so horrible.
